چکیده

conclusions our results showed the rate of effects of different risk factors on imipenem resistance. regarding the studied risk factors, appropriate programs must be set in place to control and prevent imipenem resistance in gram-negative bacteria. results of the 374 isolated, 134 were imipenem resistant, and 240 were sensitive to imipenem. the resistance rate was more common in males and in patients with intensive care unit (icu) admission, trauma-induced infections, a history of antibiotic use, the need for ventilator support, or central venous catheter insertion, and in nosocomial infections. patients and methods an imipenem minimum inhibitory concentrations (mic) test was done using the e-test, and a survey of different risk factors of imipenem resistance in 374 patients who were infected solely by gram-negative bacteria was performed. background the use of imipenem antibiotics against gram-negative bacteria is growing, but the incidence of imipenem-resistant bacteria is also increasing. objectives the aim of this study was to determine the risk factors for imipenem resistance in patients with gram-negative bacteria infections.

Efficacy of Amikacin and Imipenem Against Multi-Drug Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated From Wound Infections

Background and Objective: Gram-negative pathogens are considered the common cause of wound infections associated with increased mortality and morbidity rates. Antibiotics combination has been used to overcome this problem. Aims: In this study, we identify Gram-negative pathogens found in wound infections and assess the in-vitro efficacy of a combination of amikacin and imipenem against the resi...

Antimicrobial Resistance among Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated from Different Samples of Patients Admitted to a University Hospital in Kashan, Iran

Antibiotic resistance is a complex dynamic problem, resulting in substantial morbidity, mortality and increasing cost of treatment. In this retrospective study, we examined Gram-negative bacterial resistance ofimipenem, ceftazidime and cefepime in the samplessent to the laboratory of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in 2011-2012. Data of 1041 patients were included in our study. 50.8% patients were male...

Antimicrobial resistance pattern of Gram-negative bacilli isolated from patients at ICUs of Army hospitals in Iran

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Patients at intensive-care-unit (ICU) are at risk of acquiring nosocomial infections which contributes to higher rates. Approximately 25% of all hospital infections and 90% of outbreaks occur in ICUs. Multi- resistant gram-negative rods are important pathogens in ICUs, causing high rate of mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial resist...

Characterization of the Extended-Spectrum beta-Lactamase Producers among Non-Fermenting Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated from Burnt Patients

Background & Aims of the Study: Extended-spectrum beta-Lactamases (ESBLs) represent a major group of beta-lactamases which are responsible for resistance to oxyimino-cephalosporins and aztreonam and currently being identified in large numbers throughout the world. The objective of this study was to characterize ESBL producers among non-fermenter gram-negative bacteria isolated from burnt patien...
